HANOI, Vietnam, July 18, 2025 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore strategic initiatives to enhance the safety and efficiency of Vietnam’s national air traffic management (ATM) system.

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing aviation markets globally. Optimizing airport and flight operations will help drive efficiency to support this growth, which is critical to the long-term sustainability of Vietnam’s national ATM system.

“This collaboration with Boeing marks a significant milestone in VATM’s commitment to building a safer, smarter, and more efficient air traffic management system for Vietnam,” said Nguyen Cong Long, Director General, VATM. “By combining our operational expertise with Boeing’s global experience, we are confident this partnership will deliver meaningful improvements that support the country’s aviation growth.”

Under the agreement, Boeing and VATM will explore joint projects in key areas, including:

  • Airspace management, particularly supporting the opening of the Long Thanh International Airport and optimizing operations across the Ho Chi Minh metroplex.
  • Advanced information systems that enable seamless, real-time data sharing between key aviation stakeholders.
  • Next-generation air traffic technologies, such as ICAO's Aviation System Block Upgrades roadmap and the FAA's NextGen framework.
  • Capacity building through leadership, business and technical training programs.

“Air traffic in Vietnam is expected to double over the next decade, reaching more than 75 million annual passengers,” said Mike Sinnett, senior vice president of Product Strategy, Product Development and Development Programs, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “Boeing is committed to supporting Vietnam’s civil aviation industry and working with VATM to provide lasting solutions that enhance the safety and sustainability of a modern air traffic system.”
